Breed Show Handling/Grooming

Michael Halley has trained thousands of dogs in the region and is a professional show handler that has produced over 50 champions of various breeds. He believes that the best approach to training is with voice and praise, not treats. Obedience in Michael’s classes is learned through positive and negative reinforcements and nylon training collars.

Puppy Obedience Class

Puppies must be 3 months. old and up. Puppy training teaches basics such as sit, stay, walk nicely on a leash and lots of socialization. Please bring a flat training leash, not a retractable lead.

Dog Agility has been the fastest-growing dog sport. In Agility, dogs run around challenging obstacle courses such as jumps, tunnels, tires, dog walks, seesaws and weave poles while racing against the clock. It is a great exerciser for the active dog; great confidence builder for the shy dog. Come join us in this special introductory class and have fun with your dog!

Agility 101
Starting Tuesday, January 5th - 6:30 PM - $100 for 3 weeks - 90 minutes per class
Dog Agility has been the fastest-growing dog sport. In Agility, dogs run around challenging obstacle courses consisting of jumps, tunnels, tires, dog walks, seesaws and weave poles while racing against the clock. Learning Agility is fun for owners and dogs alike as they bond through teamwork. The sport can be a tremendous confidence builder for a shy dog, and a wonderful way to burn energy for active dogs.

Good Manners in the City
Starting Sunday, January 10th for 5 weeks - 75 minutes per class $150

Puppy 101 - 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM - 5 weeks
This is a ground level class for new puppies, ages 12 weeks to 6 months. The class will focus on the basic good manners needed to produce a dog you can live with. We’ll work on sit/down, stay, coming when called, walking nicely on leash and also address common puppy issues like housebreaking, crate training, chewing, barking and unwelcome greetings. The class will also provide socialization and puppy play opportunities. Dogs will work on a 4′-6′ leash, no flexi - leads please.

Dog 101 – 11:15 AM – 12:30 PM for 5 weeks
This class is for recent adoptees, older dogs who haven’t had training, or for those who have, but need a refresher. The class will focus on the basic good manners needed to produce a dog you can live with. We’ll work on sit/down, stay, coming when called, and walking nicely on leash. We’ll also provide techniques for handling common problems like chewing, barking and jumping up. Dogs will work on a 4′-6′ lead, no flexi leads please.

Extreme Nose Work
Starting Thursday, January 14th - 7:00 PM - $200 for 6 weeks - 60 minutes per class
Extreme Nose Work is one of the newest sports that any dog can enjoy! It tests a dog’s ability to use his powerful sense of smell to locate a specific odor. Dogs are rewarded with praise and treats for finding their toys and eventually transfer their “finding” skill to a specific odors. The game increases in challenge level as the location of the odor become more intricate or difficult to find.

Starting Tuesday, January 26, 2010 for 6 weeks on Tuesdays
Cost: $150
